Lost Shore Surf Resort, Scotland’s first inland surf resort, has revealed the first wave of restaurants to join its much-anticipated waterfront dining hub, Canteen. Glasgow favourites Five March and Rafa’s Diner, alongside Edinburgh’s iconic pizzeria Civerinos, are the first to secure spots at the resort, set to open this autumn. The new resort, located near Edinburgh, is expected to attract 160,000 visitors annually, with its unique combination of Europe’s largest wave pool, luxury hilltop lodges, and premium dining experiences.
Canteen, the resort’s waterfront bar, café, and restaurant complex, will feature a seasonally rotating selection of Scottish eateries, showcasing the best of the country’s food scene. The initiative is led by Rogue Village, an Edinburgh-based hospitality agency known for its innovative approach to dining experiences. Canteen aims to provide visitors with a diverse and ever-evolving culinary journey, featuring both local and international influences.
Five March, a Glasgow-based eatery known for its relaxed atmosphere and creative small plates, is one of the first to join the resort’s dining roster. With a focus on locally sourced, sustainable ingredients, Five March’s menu will include a wide range of vegetarian and vegan dishes, while also celebrating Scottish meat and seafood. The restaurant’s inventive menu, curated by owner Joanna Nethery, has earned it a reputation as a must-visit spot in Glasgow, and it promises to deliver the same high-quality fare at Lost Shore.
Another addition to Canteen is Civerinos, a well-established name in Edinburgh’s culinary scene. Known for its New York-inspired pizza and Italian street food, Civerinos will open its sixth location at the resort. With its lively and welcoming atmosphere, the restaurant will cater to both surfers and families, offering a laid-back dining experience with a focus on bold flavours and generous portions.
Glasgow’s Rafa’s Diner, which started in the city’s Hidden Lane, will also bring its authentic Mexican cuisine to the resort. Rafa’s has become a beloved local spot, known for its straightforward yet flavourful menu. Visitors to Lost Shore can expect to enjoy the same comforting, no-fuss dishes that have made Rafa’s a favourite in Glasgow’s Finnieston district.
In addition to these three flagship restaurants, Canteen will partner with other notable local producers. Edinburgh-based Machina Coffee will provide speciality coffee, while Company Bakery, also based in the city, will supply fresh pastries. Leith’s award-winning Pilot Brewery will be offering its craft beers at the resort’s bar, ensuring visitors have a variety of high-quality beverages to complement their meals.
Peter Maniam, Co-director of Rogue Village, expressed his excitement about the project: “We’re passionate about showcasing the very best of Scotland’s food scene at Lost Shore. Partnering with innovative and beloved eateries like Five March, Civerinos, and Rafa’s Diner ensures we’re creating a dynamic dining destination that offers something for everyone.”
Andy Roger, Chief Executive of Lost Shore Surf Resort, added: “Our food and drink offering was designed to achieve the perfect balance of quality, diversity, and, most importantly, taste. Canteen is bringing a vibrant mix of lively and unique kitchens to Lost Shore, offering surfers and visitors an unforgettable dining experience.”
As the resort gears up for its autumn opening, visitors can now book surf sessions and accommodation online, with the promise of an exceptional culinary experience awaiting them at Canteen. Lost Shore Surf Resort is poised to become one of Scotland’s leading leisure destinations, spotlighting the country’s vibrant and ever-evolving food and drink industry.
