Cala Homes (West) is urging local businesses in the Hamilton area to take advantage of a unique opportunity by participating in its ‘Showhome of Support’ initiative. The deadline for applications is fast approaching, with businesses needing to submit by Sunday, 8th September 2024.
As part of Cala’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities, this initiative will see at least ten local products showcased in one of the three showhomes at the upcoming Cornhill Village development. Through the ‘Showhome of Support’ programme, Cala Homes will partner with independent retailers and creators, giving them a platform to display their products, designs, and creations within the new Darroch showhome.
Cala Homes is specifically looking to source items from small businesses within the Hamilton community to help furnish the five-bedroom showhome, which is set to be unveiled later this year. Alison Harding from amw Designs is leading the interior design, and the project is centred around a blend of retro influences and contemporary style, with a colour palette of pistachio, sage greens, and soft neutrals.
This initiative will allow local businesses to be featured prominently throughout the showhome, with additional promotion on Cala Homes’ website and social media platforms. The support includes a bespoke landing page to highlight local talent, bringing greater visibility to participating businesses.
Suzanne McElhiney, Sales and Marketing Director at Cala Homes (West), explained the motivation behind the initiative: “This is our third development in the West of Scotland where we’re showcasing locally sourced products as part of our Showhome of Support initiative. For the first time, we’re inviting businesses to get in touch directly, as we want to ensure that local talent has a chance to shine in our new developments.”
McElhiney added, “We are passionate about building communities, not just homes. The Showhome of Support programme allows us to give back to the incredible independent retailers and local talent we have on our high streets. Cornhill Village is the perfect location to roll out this initiative as it benefits from a wide range of fantastic local shops.”
Cala Homes is keen to hear from a diverse range of independent retailers, including those in the fields of home décor, art, food and drink, gardening, and fashion. The initiative welcomes businesses such as gift shops, florists, bookshops, furniture makers, and many more, ensuring a rich representation of local creativity and enterprise.
Alison Harding, the interior designer behind the Darroch showhome, provided insights into the aesthetic vision for the project. “The design of the Darroch showhome is tailored for a slightly older growing family, with retro-inspired elements. We envision styling products within the home to match this theme, whether it’s art, soft furnishings, or garden décor. There’s also an opportunity to dress the patio space with outdoor items like lanterns or sculptures.”
The Showhome of Support initiative is part of Cala’s broader Community Pledge, which aims to deliver meaningful contributions to the communities surrounding their developments. The Pledge includes various activities such as donations, initiatives, and volunteering efforts that continue throughout the lifespan of the development.
Located just minutes from Hamilton town centre, Cornhill Village is ideally situated for commuters, with excellent transport links to Glasgow via the M74 and A723. The development’s first phase of homes is set to launch soon, with the showhomes, including the Darroch, scheduled to open by the end of the year.
Local businesses interested in participating in the Showhome of Support initiative should submit their applications by 8th September 2024 by emailing WestPledge@cala.co.uk. Further details about the programme and the Cornhill Village development can be found on Cala’s website.
