A recent survey by PAB Communications Ltd has revealed that young people have a high level of global cultural awareness, with a strong respect for cultural differences. The survey, which questioned over 100 young individuals in primary and secondary schools between September and December 2024, showed that 85% of respondents were aware of global cultural practices, with more than 72% expressing respect for different cultures.
The findings also indicated that young people are eager to expand their knowledge beyond their immediate surroundings. Many expressed an interest in learning more about global cultures, as well as gaining a deeper understanding of financial literacy, the arts, and health education.
Social media emerged as the most significant source of information about global events, with 77.5% of respondents citing it as their primary platform for news. Other sources included family and friends (57.5%), online news (47.5%), school (45%), and television (40%).
The survey also delved into young people’s emotional intelligence and ability to express ideas. A significant majority were aware of how emotions influence their behaviour and felt confident in articulating their thoughts. Many suggested that educational experiences could be improved by reducing pressure and homework, offering more engaging and practical projects, and introducing more flexible schedules and better teaching support.
When asked about the role of youth in global peace and sustainability, the responses were a mix of optimism, scepticism, and pessimism. While many emphasised the importance of early education and youth involvement in these areas, others highlighted the overwhelming challenges ahead.
Iwona Lebiedowicz, Managing Director of PAB Communications Ltd, commented on the results, saying: “Young people are the future, and the results of this survey give us a fascinating insight into the thoughts of today’s youngsters. Our goal was to promote youth development and engagement in global initiatives—such as sustainability and peace-building—by encouraging young people to take part in meaningful discussions and actions.”
The survey, titled Empowering Youth with Skills for Peace and Development, was carried out while PAB Communications worked with schools to inspire language and culture learning and improve communication skills. PAB Communications, a leader in intercultural communication training, aims to break down barriers and ensure that everyone has a voice in global discussions.
