Certus Construction Named Finalist in Wakefield Business Awards
Certus Construction Services, based in Wakefield, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Wakefield Business Awards for the Collaboration of the Year category. This recognition highlights the company’s partnership with Wakefield and District Housing (WDH), where Certus has been a key supplier in delivering social housing services across the region.
Certus Construction’s ongoing collaboration with WDH has resulted in the successful refurbishment of more than 40 vacant properties, now providing homes for families within the district. The partnership has also contributed to local employment through the creation of new jobs, including an apprenticeship that is being completed through Wakefield College.
Martyn Gorton, Managing Director at Certus, expressed his pride at being shortlisted for the award: “We are thrilled to be recognised in this way. It reflects our strong collaboration with WDH, which allows us to deliver high-quality services across their housing stock. This partnership is particularly meaningful as it combines quality service provision with real impact on the community.”
The Collaboration of the Year category is one of many in the annual awards, celebrating successful partnerships within the Wakefield district. Certus demonstrated to the judges how the partnership with WDH benefits the community, helping to set shared goals and improve housing services for residents. Their submission highlighted both the operational successes and the added social value resulting from the collaboration.
George Temple, Service Director at WDH, praised Certus for their commitment to the partnership’s goals: “WDH set Certus the challenge of building a truly collaborative relationship, and they have responded by upholding our values and standards while actively engaging with our communities. Certus has shown a deep understanding of our residents’ needs, attending community meetings and working with consideration for our customers. This strong, two-way collaboration has made a positive difference locally, and we’re very pleased to have been shortlisted for this award alongside Certus.”
Gorton elaborated on the importance of collaboration, explaining that the recognition speaks to Certus’s dedication to enhancing the value of social housing: “The category criteria required us to show that we’ve successfully partnered with other local businesses to create an effective collaboration. We demonstrated how we add value to one another’s work and are proud to be acknowledged as finalists.”
Beyond the partnership with WDH, Certus’s commitment to social housing extends to delivering social value in the Wakefield area. By contributing to the local economy and supporting community-focused initiatives, Certus’s work with WDH exemplifies the impact of collaborative partnerships on local communities.
The Wakefield Business Awards will be held at Tileyard North, Wakefield, on Thursday, 7th November. Award categories include Apprentice of the Year, Business Growth Success Story, Team of the Year, and more. For event details, visit wearewakefield.org.uk.
