Canva, the globally popular visual communication platform, has announced a remarkable milestone as its annual revenue soars to $2.5 billion, supported by a burgeoning user base that now exceeds 200 million active users worldwide. This growth marks an increase of over 115 million users in just two years, highlighting the platform’s expanding influence in workplaces globally.
In an effort to enhance creativity and collaboration, Canva has launched several innovative features, including the new generative AI tool, Dream Lab, powered by Leonardo.Ai. This advanced tool allows users to generate dynamic images, illustrations, and 3D renders from simple text descriptions, offering a new level of creative freedom. Dream Lab’s capabilities are further enhanced by its ability to create complex multi-subject images and photorealistic portraits, catering to a diverse range of creative professionals from content creators to architects.
Melanie Perkins, Canva’s Co-Founder and CEO, expressed excitement about the platform’s achievements. “We’re incredibly excited to now be empowering more than 200 million people in nearly every country across the globe,” Perkins said. She added that the company feels it is “still just 1% of the way there,” indicating a commitment to ongoing innovation and user engagement.
In conjunction with Dream Lab, Canva has unveiled a host of new features for its Visual Suite, which includes Docs, Whiteboards, and Presentations. Notable enhancements include an upgraded Magic Write function, interactive polling capabilities, and new chart types designed to facilitate data storytelling. The Visual Suite, launched two years ago, has already facilitated the creation of over 2.5 billion presentations and 500 million documents.
The expansion of Canva’s content library has also been a focal point of their recent efforts. Partnerships with renowned content studios, such as Artlist and pocstock, have added to the platform’s offerings, ensuring users have access to a wide range of templates, video assets, and stock photography. The collaboration with pocstock particularly aims to enhance diverse representation in visual content, providing access to 150,000 photos that reflect an inclusive world.
Canva is also rolling out “Work Kits,” tailored collections designed to assist small businesses, educators, and students in their projects. The Work Kits offer a variety of templates and resources, with a focus on streamlining tasks and enhancing productivity. Since their launch, these kits have been used over one million times globally, signalling strong demand among users.
The rapid adoption of Canva’s tools in workplaces is evident, with major brands like the NYSE, HP, and Atlassian now integrating Canva Enterprise into their content creation processes.
